Re: Giallo (Dario Argento,2008)
http://www.variety.com/review/VE1117940 ... id=31&cs=1
"Ludicrous, craptastically made even by Argento's usual low-budget standards, and not even remotely scary or amusingly campy"
"The results are unintentionally hilarious at times"
"Elsa Pataky, whose screams of fury and despair must have come easy once she realized what she'd signed on for
"Argento maniacs will no doubt search the pic for resonances and echoes of older, greater works. Everyone else will just wonder what this rubbish is all about"
Ouch.

Oh really? Well then I'm sure you wouldn't mind giving us a detailed account of exactly how you concocted this miracle glue, would you ?

Re: Giallo (Dario Argento,2008)
Des critiques un peu plus favorables ici...:
http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content/id/70960/giallo.html
A decent offering from a director whose work of late has been decidedly patchy. While I’m sure the usual battle lines will be drawn, with fans alternating between branding it a return to form and proclaiming it to be proof that he is a has-been, the truth is, as is so often the case, somewhere in the middle. No, it’s not the next Profondo Rosso, but anyone who expected otherwise would simply be deluding themselves. It’s also, for my money, more engaging than the overrated Sleepless and about on par with the underrated The Card Player, a film that for me improves with each subsequent viewing.
Problems aside, Giallo is surprisingly good fun and far more energetic and ballsy than one would expect from a 68-year-old filmmaker.

Like Sleepless, Giallo is a film that breaks little new ground. But whereas its predecessor made a somewhat selective survey of the high points of Argento’s past films, Giallo looks all around.
It provides a solid framework for plenty of classic Argento images, suspense, shocks and splatter.
In combination with Seigner’s involvement, the film thus emerges as something akin to Argento’s version of Polanski’s Bitter Moon, as something to be both taken seriously at times and as a self-parody at others in its commentary on past glories.

With gestures to past giallo classics such as Blood And Black Lace, as well as to Micheal Powell's Peeping Tom, Argento's Giallo will be a delight for fans of this once obscure genre that has undoubtedly gained a wider following through the DVD re-release market. However, those who have enjoyed the satirical elements of Wes Craven's Scream series or Sam Raimi's recent gross-out horror comedy Drag Me To Hell may also find much to please them.

Giallo might not mark the triumphant and long awaited ‘return to form’ of the director who gave us the likes of Suspiria, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage Tenebrae, Deep Red but it still marks Argento as one of the most interesting horror/thriller filmmakers of his generation working in cinema and is worth checking out.

Whilst Giallo may lack originality,it is still an enjoyable, if flawed, experience. The cinematography is seductively shot by Frederic Fasano and the gore is plentiful; with slit throats, crushed skulls and severed lips contributing to the blood flow.
Many of the usual flaws that have dogged his work over the last twenty-five years are thankfully absent, such as awful dubbing and an annoying heavy metal soundtrack. Giallo’s greatest assets are without a doubt Brody and Werba, both of whom deliver exactly what is needed, and whilst this is unlikely to win over those who feel that Argento has had his day, it boasts enough interesting ideas to warrant a viewing.

The story may be familiar, but Argento adds his touch of drama and horror expertise with visceral red hues and clever camera work, while the powerful, purposeful score supports almost every scene. The characters are rather cliched but moments of tongue-in-cheek humour suggests this is Argento's intention. Giallo is instantly recognisable as an Argento film, and is entertainingly bloody, funny and visually retro.

A chier grave.

Re: Giallo (Dario Argento,2008)
