Don Edmonds informed me this afternoon that character actor George "Buck" Flower passed away in his sleep last night. Buck had been ill for the better part of 2004. He was 66.

Buck's credits including appearances in five John Carpenter films (THE FOG, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, STARMAN, THEY LIVE and VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED) as well as features by Robert Zemeckis (BACK TO THE FUTURE and its first sequel) Tobe Hooper (SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION), William Lustig (MANIAC COP and RELENTLESS), Don Edmonds (ILSA, SHE-WOLF OF THE SS, BARE KNUCKLES), and many others. Buck also served as second unit director, casting director, scriptwriter and producer on countless independent films, including, DRIVE-IN MASSACRE and THE BIKINI CARWASH COMPANY and TAKIN' IT OFF series. He also recently co-wrote a novel, REDNECKS IN LOVE, with friend and fellow character actor Charles Napier.

On a personal note, Buck was a good friend and an incredible source of information on low-budget and independent filmmaking in Los Angeles during the '70s, as well as one of the funniest and kindest people I've ever met. I will miss him very much.
