etThis was first rumoured over a year ago... Variety reports that Steven Hoban, a producer on all three of the GINGER SNAPS films, is moving forward with a remake of Bob Clark's slasher favorite BLACK CHRISTMAS. Hoban was one of the partners in 49th Parallel, which was behind this year's pair of SNAPS sequels, and while that company recently disbanded, Hoban is now working on the CHRISTMAS redux through his new Copper Heart outfit. The original film's director, Bob Clark, will be an executive producer on the update, with no one announced for the helm as of now. The 1974 CHRISTMAS was set in a sorority house where the girls (including Olivia Hussey and Margot Kidder) are terrorized by an obscene phone caller who begins killing them off at holiday time.
The Crazies de ce bon vieux Geroge...
Like it was mentioned on the forums sometime ago... Variety reports that Paramount Pictures, perhaps inspired by the solid box office for the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake, is backing an update of George A. Romero's 1973 shocker THE CRAZIES. Romero himself will executive-produce the new version, which will "modernize" the story of an accidentally released biological weapon that turns the residents of a small town insane and the military's deadly attempts to stop the outbreak. Michael Aguilar and Dean Georgaris will produce the new CRAZIES through their Penn Station production company; though Georgaris scripted such Paramount flicks as PAYCHECK and LARA CROFT TOMB RAIDER: THE CRADLE OF LIFE, it hasn't been reported whether he'll be the writer on this project.
