Great news, folks! We received confirmation today from a very trusted source that George A. Romero is officially attached to direct From a Buick 8 based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, which we last mentioned to you here!
Details are sparse right now, but we know the script was written by John Schaech and Richard Chizmar (who are also working on a script for Black House), and it will be a Chesapeake Films project. Schaech and Chizmar’s only previous screenwriting credit is the short film Heroes, but Schaech is an accomplished actor who most recently starred in The Velvet Side of Hell and played the vampire Kit in The Forsaken.
For those that haven’t read it, From a Buick 8 is one of King’s more recent novels, focused around a State Trooper outpost in Pennsylvania that houses a very mysterious car. For years it’s been kept sealed up in Shed B, but when a deceased trooper’s son starts to ask questions about it, its incredibly bizarre past comes to light. I actually thought it was a damn cool book if not a bit slow, and I’m sure Romero’s distinctive eye will make it that much better.
We’ll have more news on the adaptation very soon, so stick around!
