un excellent document sur Empire strikes back, fait par un fan anglais, montrant tout au long du film des scènes alernatives, video et audio, des photos de scènes coupées, les modifications de dialogues faites par Lucas au fil des éditions vidéos. Un travail de pro, malheureusement dispo par des moyens que notre premier ministre réprouve, mais uniquement sur échange, pas d'argen, ce qui reste assez sain. cela n'empêchera pas des gugusses de vendre ça une fortune sur ebay ou dans des conventions, mais au moins cela n'a pas été fait dans cette optique.
Pour avoir aidé le type avec quelques images rares qu'il cherchait, je peux dire qu'il est très sympa et que sa démarche est celle d'un passionné sans être un nerd fini.
le type bosse en ce moment sur la même chose pour Return of the Jedi. Cela s'appellera Returning to Jedi.

Every Star Wars fan owes it to himself to see Jambe Davdar's Building Empire. It's superbly done, impeccably well researched and scholarly, and will teach even the most die hard fan of the film things about Empire that they would never have known otherwise.
Davdar has called this an "Audio/Visual Commentary" for the film, which describes it quite well. It's an edit in the vein of Deleted Magic (and a fine successor to it), in that you're watching the actual film as commentary, making of footage, and reams of information are thrown at you in a highly entertaining and enlightening manner. Davdar does not cut out any scenes from the film - he manages to have something to say about each and every single scene, which is fairly remarkable in and of itself.
The quality of the video is very good. It's mostly taken from the 2004 PAL DVDs and hasn't lost its quality as Davdar superimposes information over it. The film is indeed sped up, as many PAL DVDs are, but this is not that distracting in this edit and many won't even notice it. The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen, which results in many pan & scan "making of" shots being shrunk and cropped at the top and bottom, and cropped further as subtitles are placed over the bottom of the screen, but this is done tastefully and you never feel like you're missing much important information in the image.
What sets this film apart, and above and beyond any fan production I've seen including my own, is the quality of the research. Davdar just happens to know a lot about the film The Empire Strikes Back, and shares it all in this edit. Of particular interest are the crackly, poor quality sound excerpts from the rarely-seen Super 8mm version of the film, which contain alternate takes of many lines.
c'est un type différent. je précise également qu'il ne fait pas dans son doc un inventaire des modifications visueles entre 1980 et 1997 ou 2004, mais des différences lors de la production et la postproduction du film, bien plus inédite comme démarche.

Non, le mec qui a fait "Deleted Magic" pour l'Episode IV travaille actuellement sur un remontage de "The thief and the cobbler", dessin animé de Robert Williams (directeur de l'animation sur Roger Rabbitt entre autres). Le DA a mis près de 30 ans pour être finalisé avant que le studio ne remonte le film dans tous les sens et que Disney ne pille le métrage pour Aladdin (c'est extrêmement flagrant dans le graphisme des protagonistes).
Le type repart donc de plein de sources (workprint, DVD du remontage, etc...) pour essayer de redonner au film sa aplendeur, les images que j'en ai vues étant absolument hallucinantes.

Effectivement c'est assez effrayant tellement c'est mauvais, je ne l'ai même pas gardé...
Building empire est en téléchargement depuis cette nuit sur myspleen.net. faut d'abord s'inscrire et après c'est en torrent et vous récuperer le dvd complet grâce au dossier video_ts. Il y a aussi un fichier DVD_rom avec plusieurs jaquettes.
