Logline
Despite being married to a cop, a frustrated unemployed teacher decides to take revenge on life by joining forces with an unpredictable scammer and his ambitious ex-girlfriend in their “fool-proof” blackmailing scheme, but when absolutely nothing goes according to plan and things rapidly go from unimaginably bad to worse, he discovers that little in life is fool-proof... or without a price...
Synopsis
Charlie, a down-on-his-luck, out-of-work teacher, is forced to take a job at a call center to provide for his wife, Penelope (a local police officer), and their three year-old daughter, Emily. But before getting himself fired – midway through his first day on the job - he makes the acquaintance of Gus, a reckless young man who presents Charlie with a seemingly snag-free plan to get rich quick: blackmail the priest who turned up in the company database of visitors to illegal porn-sites. Normally one to toe the line without question, Charlie wants in, confident that the cash he'll garner from this brilliant scam will finally help turn things around for him and his family. And so, Charlie, Gus and Gus's ex-shag, Josie - a smart-mouthed machiavelle and teenage pageant queen who wants out of this dump of a town – set off to make their easy money. Unfortunately the scam turns out to be not that brilliant, the money not so easy, Charlie not that much of a criminal and nothing what it once seemed to be, in a crazy, nightmarish night on the town with each twist of fate more unexpected than the last.
